The five SUG officials who were rusticated and called back to resume duties have tendered their resignation letter.
It should be recalled that the five were rusticated on grounds of leading a peaceful protest. After series of pleas and intervention by well meaning Nigerians and stakeholders, the five SUG officials were reinstated.
According to the UNIBEN five, the reason for their resignation was the restraints and constraints encountered while carrying out official duties of the union after their reinstatement.
Meanwhile, the affected SUG officials have pledged their unalloyed loyalty to the Management of the University.
It will be on record that the UNIBEN FIVE at this time fought and stood to protect the interest of students. Aspiring student leaders should know that leadership is not a bed of roses.
